Guaranteed ride home
Dependency is one of the most cited barriers to carpooling. How do I get home if my driver drops out during the day?
swidg provides two solutions to mitigate this fear. The swidg platform knows who your other best fit matches are. On top of that the platform knows who of your matches list are potential drivers on that specific day and are at work. The first solution for a guaranteed ride home is that swidg provides you a list of potential drivers to bring you home. The platform allows you to contact that person directly (if the driver is open for these emergency matches).
A second solution that swidg provides is that you can via the app request a shared car or taxi if that is supported by your employer. This can be limited by a number of credits per month to avoid misuse.
Only if you had a confirmed trip as a passenger for the current day and the driver cancels the trip, you will be able to use the emergency solution to get the guaranteed ride home.
By pressing the emergency matching button you will get the screen with the two solutions:
A list of all the potential driver matches to bring you home. This list is built based on the data known by the platform. You can send an invitation request or, because most of the cases you are urgently looking for a solution, you can also call the person directly.
If provided by your employer and you still have credits left, you can request a shared car (or taxi). Pressing this button will send an email to the responsible person of your company with the request. The mail will contain your email address, phone number, start location, destination and preferred start time, based on the data known by the swidg platform. swidg is not further involved in the follow up of the request, it is the responsibility of the person provided by your employer to contact you with all the details to provide you a solution.
If you don’t want to be proposed as a potential emergency match, you can switch this off in your Matching settings. Default this is turned on.
